2022 Goal Check-in and April Plan

Another month has come and gone. As I look forward to April and more spring-like weather, I’m taking time to pause and reflect on my goal progress during March (really the first 3 months of the year). Below are my 2022 goals and how I’m doing so far.

  1. I will read 36 books currently on my shelf by Christmas 2022, so that I can learn, grow, and relax.
    1. January – finished Discernment, Five, Seven, Caste
    2. February – From Social Media to Social Ministry, finished Life Together
    3. March – Simplify the Message, The Return, His Only Wife, started White Fragility
  2. I will attend counseling twice a month, so that I can better know myself and love my family well. Done in January, February, and March!
  3. I will have at least 30 minutes of healthy movement 3 times a week so that I can fully live life and love my family well.
    1. I have mostly been able to meet this goal. I admit that I did not do a good job of tracking it, so I can’t say totally that I met the goal.
  4. I will pamper myself at least once a week so that I can remember I am worthy of care.
    1. Got a massage each month.
    2. Took a long, hot bath most weeks.
  5. I will journal at least 5 times per week so that I can process my life, mature in faith, and remember my growth.
    1. January – 24 entries
    2. February – 17 entries
    3. March – 16 entries
  6. I will take an overnight personal retreat quarterly so that I can rest and plan.
    1. Retreat taken in February.
    2. Scheduled 3 more retreats for the remainder of the year.
  7. I will have 3 1-1 date nights each month so that I can strengthen and enjoy my relationships with family and friends.
    1. Monthly dates with Bill were less planned and more spur of the moment.
    2. January – vision board night with my friend Sandy
    3. March – coffee with my friend Lee
  8. I will plan one family trip per quarter so that we can rest and play together.
    1. March – family spring break trip to Florida!
    2. Spring camping trip is tentatively planned.
    3. Summer trip is planned.
  9. I will complete the coaching certification process this year so that I can help others as they lead a life worthy of their calling.
    1. Started the class in March!
  10. I will develop a guest speaking/preaching ministry so that I can develop a secondary income stream and live into my calling.
    1. Speaker bio written.
    2. Main speaking topics determined.
    3. Preached twice in January, twice in February, and once in March.
  11. I will save $$$ by Christmas so that we can be prepared in case of an unexpected life emergency.
    1. Developed a unique budget each month.
    2. Placed an unexpected medical reimbursement into savings.
    3. Made a budgeted savings deposit in March.

So, I made progress. I didn’t meet all the goals which helps me develop specific tasks and objectives for April. Here is what I plan to work on in April.

  1. I will read 36 books currently on my shelf by Christmas 2022, so that I can learn, grow, and relax.
    1. Read Missional Essentials, Reclaiming Church, and Conversations Worth Having.
    2. Schedule 4 hours each week to read.
    3. Write a book review post when done.
  2. I will attend counseling twice a month, so that I can better know myself and love my family well.
    1. Personal and marriage counseling this month.
  3. I will have at least 30 minutes of healthy movement 3 times a week so that I can fully live life and love my family well.
    1. Attend Mon/Friday 360 class 7 times
    2. Walk during football/soccer practice.
    3. Try a new YMCA class.
    4. Take a family hike.
  4. I will pamper myself at least once a week so that I can remember I am worthy of care.
    1. Massage on April 20.
    2. Get a pedicure.
    3. Get a haircut.
    4. Sit outside in the sun and read or nap.
  5. I will journal at least 5 times per week so that I can process my life, mature in faith, and remember my growth.
    1. Use quiet morning time to journal.
  6. I will take an overnight personal retreat quarterly so that I can rest and plan.
    1. Go to clergy women’s retreat at the end of the month. 
  7. I will have three 1-1 dates each month so that I can strengthen and enjoy my relationships with family and friends.
    1. April 8th – date night with Bill
    2. Use errands and other kids activities as an opportunity to have 1-1 time with other kids.
    3. Have lunch with a friend.
  8. I will plan one family trip per quarter so that we can rest and play together.
    1. Get camper brakes fixed.
    2. Book campsite.
    3. Camping trip after Easter.
  9. I will complete the coaching certification process this year so that I can help others as they lead a life worthy of their calling.
    1. Make final course payment.
    2. Attend 4 scheduled coaching classes.
    3. Read Co-active Coaching.
    4. Complete coaching session assignment.
  10. I will develop a guest speaking/preaching ministry so that I can develop a secondary income stream and live into my calling.
    1. Develop a list of potential speaking locations.
    2. Preach on April 10th and 17th.
    3. Book future speaking events, no more than two per month.
  11. I will save $$$ by Christmas so that we can be prepared in case of an unexpected life emergency.
    1. File taxes.
    2. $$$ to savings.
    3. Create May budget.
    4. Sell something extra and put money in savings.
