Loving My Body

This year, I’m using the Present Over Perfect Guided Journal. I read Shauna Neiquist’s Present Over Perfect book when it came out a few years ago and so much of it just connected with me. When I saw she had created a journal, I knew it was right for this season of my life. The journal has small excerpts from the book and prompts to help you think, reflect, and write. I’ll be sharing some of the prompts and my responses.

Prompt (pg. 137): How do you feel about your body? Are you offering it grace and nourishment? How and why?

My body and I are learning to love each other again. I have moments where I am in awe and love my body. Other times I loathe my body. Most days are in between.

My body craves fresh food. I do not meet this craving often. My body enjoys gentle movement and getting strong. I ebb and flow on this too. It feels all or nothing sometimes. And I try to remember grace.

Too often I don’t feel like I fit the mold of what a body should look like. But who gets to determine that? I am wonderfully made. I can care for my body so that we feel good together. So that I have energy and strength to love well.
