Worship is about picking up the toys, doing the paperwork, cooking the food, finishing the homework, answering the phone calls, and serving others with an attitude that is glorifying to God, that is grateful and honoring.

On Being Resilient
Sometimes when I attend ministry related workshops, I end up thinking more about home and family than I do about the local church. You see, right now, I am in a pretty intense season of parenting. Bill and I have one adult child who is out of the house and finding her own way inContinue reading “On Being Resilient”
Ideas for Taking Your Own Retreat
Recently, I was able to get away for a personal weekend retreat. For some, it seems like such a luxury (and I fully recognize that it is). Especially when you have small children, or are a single parent, the thought of spending 2 nights alone, in a quiet place seems like an unattainable dream. IContinue reading “Ideas for Taking Your Own Retreat”
My 2022 Goals
Each year I make goals for myself and my family. Goals help me stay focused, grow and improve, and live the kind of life I want to live. For a long time, I’ve used the SMART model of goal development – specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound. Using this model helps me develop goals that mightContinue reading “My 2022 Goals”
A New Adventure!
Each year, so many people develop goals, set intentions, or make resolutions for a better year. Come February, many of us have already started to forget and lose our way. The Funny Thing About God
So that thing you feel you need to do but don’t know how? That change you need to make but it seems too scary? That leap you need to make but you don’t want to fail? Say yes, do your part and see how all things work together for the Glory of God.
My Flock Needs My Vacation
I love the people I serve and enjoy being with them each Sunday. And mostly, they are fond of me too. We’re a good match together.
Even so, they need my vacation.
2015 Goals – Mid-year reveiw
At the beginning of this year, I set some goals for myself. I thought about them and talked them over with Racer. Some seem silly, some are more important. I suppose if I set some goals then I really should take time to review them and see how I’m doing right? No point in settingContinue reading “2015 Goals – Mid-year reveiw”
Without a doubt…
I know I am supposed to be in ministry. Tonight was the first night of my church’s Vacation Bible School. VBS is a big undertaking for most churches. There is a lot of planning, prepping and praying that goes into it. It’s hard work. It’s necessary work. It’s important work. It’s tiring work. This year,Continue reading “Without a doubt…”
Ready to Say Yes
I think I’m ready to say yes again. I’m ready to re-enter the world of using my gifts and talents to serve in the church. I stopped working in ministry on June 15, 2010. Then we moved and needed to find a new church home and get kids into school and get the house settled and haveContinue reading “Ready to Say Yes”
